We recommend everyone to climb up in the morning hours to avoid the hot sun and

not to miss the pooja timings. So, be at the bottom of the hill around 7 AM.

Early morning buses (Bus charge Rs. 13 per person) to the temple from

Oddanchatram bus stand are as follows:

1. 4.45 AM – MMM route bus towards Karur

2. 6.30 AM -> Government bus towards Kodumudi

3. 6.45 AM -> Parvathi 14 number town bus towards Markampatti

Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, also known as Kondarangi Hills,

is located in Kondarangi Keeranur. Cut into the peak of a mountain,

it is believed that worshipers who ascend to the temple may receive

divine sanction and blessings from Lord Shiva.

MALLIKARJUNA SWAMY TEMPLE, KONDARANGI HILLS

Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, also referred to as “Kondarangi Hills”, is situated

in

Kondarangi Keeranur,

Dindigul District,

Oddanchatram Taluk,

Tamilnadu, India – 624616.

An astonishing rock-cut temple is situated on the top where we can receive pure

divine sanction and blessings from Lord Shiva in the name of Malligarjuneswarar.

The sculpture present in the temple is a Swayambhu Lingam.

LINGAM-SHAPED MOUNTAIN

The total height of Kondarangi Hill is 1165.86 meters (3825 Feet) high. It will take 2

hours to reach the top of the hill. Stairs have been cut to climb this mountain. The

shape of this mountain looks like a lingam. Thus, like Thiruvannamalai,

the hill itself is worshipped as a Shiva Lingam.

This is a place where those who seek peace of mind can come and worship! The

Pandavas built numerous caves here to worship Lord Shiva.

Another temples located at the foothills is called Sri Getty Malleswarar and Sri

Pramarambikai Temple.

Palani Hill can be seen from this hill. It is believed that there is a mystical connection

between Murugan, who resides on Palani Hill, and Mallikarjuna Swamy on

Kondarangi Hills. Mynthan is said to be standing, looking at his father. It is also

said that Eason and Shakti gave a vision to Balagan while standing on Palani Hill

from here.

Hill Temple:

The Kondarangi Hills hill top temple will open daily from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and

the Pooja timings at the top hill are also scheduled within the same time frame (It

takes an average of 2 hours to climb to the top of Kondarangi Hills). The temple will

be closed during other timings. Therefore, we request devotees to arrive on time

between the mentioned timings to have a peaceful worship.

Note: During the Tamil month of Margazhi, the temple at the hilltop will open around

4 AM and close at the usual time of 11:30 AM. On every Sunday, the temple is

closed at 1.30 PM.

Bottom Hill Temple:

Pooja timings at bottom hill are between 06:00 and 13:00, and 16:00 to 18:00.

Pradhosam (Pooja timing from 16:00 to 18:00), Ammavasai, and Pournami days will

have a special pooja at the bottom hill temple.

Note: Temples will be open 24 hours during festival times such as Chithirai

Pournami and Maha Shivaratri.

லிங்க வடிவிலான மலை

கொண்டராங்கி மலையின் மொத்த உயரம் 3850 அடி. இம்மலை மேல் செல்வதற்கு 90 நிமிடங்கள் ஆகும் என்கின்றனர். இங்குள்ள கட்டடங்கள் மற்றும் சிற்பங்கள் அனைத்தும் இம்மலையின் பாறையைக் கொண்டே கட்டப்பட்டவை. இம்மலையில் ஏறுவதற்கு ஏதுவாக படிக்கட்டுகளை வெட்டியுள்ளனர். இம்மலையின் வடிவம் லிங்கம் போல் காட்சியளிக்கிறது. இதனால் திருவண்ணாமலை போல இங்கும் மலையே சிவலிங்கமாகக் கருதி வணங்கப்படுகிறது.

இந்த மலையின் உச்சியில் சுயம்பு லிங்கம் காணப்படுகிறது. இவரை வணங்கினால் பக்தர்களுக்கு முக்தியும் மோட்சமும் பெறுவார்கள் என்பது நம்பிக்கை. இம்மலையின் கீழ் கெட்டிமல்லீஸ்வரர் எனும் சிவன் கோயில் அமைந்துள்ளது. மலைக்கு மேல் மல்லிகார்ஜுன சுவாமியை வழிபடலாம். இம்மலை மேல் செதுக்கப்பட்ட சிற்பம் சுயம்பு லிங்கம்.

பஞ்ச பாண்டவர்கள் தொழுத தலம்

பஞ்சபாண்டவர்கள் வனவாசம் செய்த தலம் எனவும் அர்ஜுனன் தவம் செய்த இடம் எனவும் இத்திருக்கோயிலைக் குறிப்பிடுகின்றனர். அப்படிப்பட்ட மகிமையுடைய இந்த மலையில் அர்ஜுனன் தவம் செய்த இடத்தில் இருந்து மந்திரங்களை ஜபித்துத் தவம் செய்தால் நமக்கு சிவன் அருள் கிடைக்கும் என்று நம்பப்படுகிறது. இந்த மலையில் எவர் ஒருவர் தவம் செய்தாலும் அவரின் வாழ்க்கையே மாறும் என்கிறார்கள் பக்தர்கள்.

புயலாய் வந்து வழிபடும் சித்தர்

காகபஜேந்திரன் மற்றும் கணபதி என்ற இரண்டு துறவிகள் தங்களின் முன்வினை காரணமாக மீண்டும் காகங்களாகப் பிறந்தனர். அவர்கள் இம்மலையில் தங்கியிருந்து ஈசனை வழிபட்டுத் தவம் இருந்ததாகச் சொல்கிறது தலவரலாறு.

காகபஜேந்திர முனிவருக்கு மலையின் உச்சியில் ஒரு சிறிய குகைக்கோயில் உள்ளது. மேலும் காகபஜேந்திரர் பொழுது சாயும் நேரத்தில் சிறு புயல் வடிவில் இங்குள்ள ஈசனை வணங்குவதற்காகக் கோயிலுக்கு வருவார் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.  இந்தப் புயல் மலை அடிவாரத்தில் இருந்து தொடங்கி கோயிலுக்குள் நுழையும்போது சில நொடிகள் மட்டுமே நீடிக்கும் என்கிறார்கள்.

அர்ஜுனன் தவம் இருந்த இடம்

இந்த இடம், பெரும்பாலும் மகரிஷிகளால், தியானம் செய்வதற்கான முதன்மையான தலமாக இருந்து வந்துள்ளது. இன்றும் அரூப வடிவில் சித்தர்கள் பலரும் தவமிருக்கும் மலை இது என்றும், இங்கு வந்த பக்தர்கள் பலருக்கும் அவர்கள் காட்சி தந்து அருள் செய்து இருக்கிறார்கள் என்றும் கூறுகிறார்கள். 

இங்கும் மனம் அமைதி வேண்டும் என்று விரும்புபவர்கள் வந்து வழிபட ஏற்ற இடம் இது! இங்குள்ள சிவபெருமானை வழிபடுவதற்காக இங்கு சுனைகளையும் குகைகளையும் பாண்டவர்கள் உருவாக்கினார்கள் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. 

இக்கோயிலில் சித்தர்களும் தவசிகளும் தியானம் செய்த குகை ஒன்றும் உள்ளது. மலையடிவாரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள மற்றொரு கோயில் ஸ்ரீகெட்டி மல்லேஸ்வரர் மற்றும் ஸ்ரீ பிரமராம்பா கோயில் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த மலையில் இருந்து பார்த்தால் பழநி மலை தெரியும். பழநி மலையில் வீற்றிருக்கும் முருகனுக்கும், கொண்டரங்கி மலையில் இருக்கும் மல்லிகார்ஜுன சுவாமிக்கும் சூட்சும ரீதியில் தொடர்பு உள்ளதாக நம்பப்படுகிறது. தந்தையைப் பார்த்தபடியே மைந்தன் நின்று இருப்பதாகச் சொல்லப்படுகிறது. பழநி மலையில் நின்ற பாலகனுக்கு ஈசனும் சக்தியும் இங்கிருந்தே காட்சி கொடுத்தார்கள் என்றும் சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

வற்றாத நீருற்று

மகாசிவராத்திரி மற்றும் சித்ரா பௌர்ணமி ஆகிய விழாக்கள் இம்மலையில் மிகவும் விமர்சையாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றன. இதுமட்டுமல்லாமல், பிரதோஷம், அமாவாசை, பௌர்ணமி போன்றவையும் இங்கு விசேஷம். இம்மலையில் வற்றாத நீரூற்று ஒன்று உள்ளது. இந்த ஊற்று நீரைத் தெளித்துக் கொண்டால் தோல் வியாதிகள் குணமாகும் என்கின்றனர். இந்நீரே தீர்த்தமாக பக்தர்களுக்கும் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
